As many already know the importation of Radium Brand Metal Halide Lamps are on hold at this time due to the FDAs requirements.  Radium is working with the FDA on the necessary steps needed to reduce the amount of Mercury within their lamps in order for them to once again be allowed into the U.S. I also want to use this as a opportunity to inform everyone that our new Deep Blue Star 20000K lamps from Neuco will be arriving shortly which is a great, if not better replacement for the Radium lamp. Directions for use: Use approximately 100 – 150ml of Bio-Spheres per 25 gallons of system volume. {When introducing any biopellet media for the first time, add small amounts gradually over the period of a couple months to prevent sudden crashes of Nitrate and phosphate levels and eliminates the risk of a bacterial bloom within the system} Rinse the Bio-Spheres with purified fresh water and place in a properly sized fluidized media reactor with sufficient flow to keep them gently simmering. If they start to clump or slime up, they will be less effective and may turn anaerobic causing the production of hydrogen sulfide. The Reef Octopus BioPellet Reactor is most effective reactor for the bio-pellet media. Simply direct the output of the reactor into the same area as the protein skimmer intake. Within 3-4 weeks the Bio-Spheres will be sufficiently colonized with bacteria and will begin to reduce the organic compounds within your system. Aquariums with high bio-loads may experience a short period of temporary water cloudiness.

Maintain: Bio-Spheres will remain effective until they disappear, which normally take approximately 8 months to a year. We recommend that you top off with fresh Bio-Spheres every 3 months to maintain maximum effectiveness.

As seen at Macna 2010, this long overdue lighting fixture containing our Lumen Bright mini reflectors, High output T5s and positionable LED moonlights will be available January 2011. All electronics are external to the fixture and contained within a simple component box.  All ballast have separate power plugs so timers can be used on each light.  All metal halide ballast are selectable 250w or 400w.  Note the T5s are mounted at angles to direct the light within the aquarium due to the suggest hanging heights of Lumen Bright reflectors. The fixture body itself is extruded to give it a much more professional look and available in a white or black  finish.

Octopus motorized (ANC) Automated Neck Cleaner helps keeps your octopus protein skimmer running at peak performance by periodically wiping the inside of the neck where all the bio-organics usually would accumulate.  This great skimmer accessory not only keeps you skimmer running at peak efficiency but save the timely chore of keeping your skimmers neck clean. As you know, build up in the neck causes foam to stick to the sides and restricting the collection of skimmate within the skimmers cup.

SRO Dual Blade Auto Neck Cleaning Device

Keeping the neck wall clean results in consistent skimmer performance and little to no down time.  This device uses twin squeegees to automatically remove the buildup from a skimmer neck. The SRO (ANC) consists of a high torque low RPM motor, wiper mount, lid with mounting clamps and the squeegees.

To operate this easy to you device,  you simply plug the unit into a timer (not included) or aquarium controller and set it to run for a few minutes 4 to 6 times per day.  By running it this way you will never experience crud build up along the walls of you skimmers neck.  This will  eliminate the daily chore of cleaning for two or more weeks while maintaining the level of skimmate production that you would normally get with only a freshly-washed collection cup.

This unit will increase the height of your skimmer by approximately 4.75“ with all models except the CL110 which adds an additional 4″.

Our Octopus ANC does not require you to send in or modify your stock lid in any way because our ANC is built into the lid for precise control.

Reactors can be fed with a small aquarium pump or via manifold off of your return pump.

While there are a lot of LED fixtures coming onto the market at this time I believe this will be the standard by which all LED fixtures will need to conform to in order to be used properly over a marine reef aquarium. The Solarian fixtures are modular so that the end user can choose the type of LED, how many and how they should be configured. Easily expandable design.

Perhaps your budget only allows you to populate a quarter of the fixture you can start there and build up to the amount of light you want to get to. This will be a full exposure fixture meaning it will cover most if not all of the surface area of your aquarium. Other manufacturers are making small 12″x12″ or 12″ x18″ individual grids and others are making narrow beam fixtures that will give you a spot light effect. The Solarian will cover more surface area with more LED’s than ever seen before. We will have 5 different manufacturers LED’s to choose from and up to 13 different color temperature LED’s to choose from. Changing the LED’s and drivers will be as simple as unscrewing a screw because all the components will be surface mounted and locked down with screws onto the main circuit board.
