Photosynthesis is vital to almost all corals and plants on the planet, but they do not just need any kind of light, instead they require light in a specific ranges of spectrum in order to survive and thrive, namely the wavelengths that Chlorophyll A and Chlorophyll B require, as illustrated in the diagram to the left, since they are the two most dominant forms of Chlorophyll found in corals and plants.

Directions for use: Use approximately 100 – 150ml of Bio-Spheres per 25 gallons of system volume. {When introducing any biopellet media for the first time, add small amounts gradually over the period of a couple months to prevent sudden crashes of Nitrate and phosphate levels and eliminates the risk of a bacterial bloom within the system} Rinse the Bio-Spheres with purified fresh water and place in a properly sized fluidized media reactor with sufficient flow to keep them gently simmering. If they start to clump or slime up, they will be less effective and may turn anaerobic causing the production of hydrogen sulfide. The Reef Octopus BioPellet Reactor is most effective reactor for the bio-pellet media. Simply direct the output of the reactor into the same area as the protein skimmer intake. Within 3-4 weeks the Bio-Spheres will be sufficiently colonized with bacteria and will begin to reduce the organic compounds within your system. Aquariums with high bio-loads may experience a short period of temporary water cloudiness.

Maintain: Bio-Spheres will remain effective until they disappear, which normally take approximately 8 months to a year. We recommend that you top off with fresh Bio-Spheres every 3 months to maintain maximum effectiveness.

Granular Ferric Oxide commonly refereed to as GFO ideally suited for filtering out phosphate from the water column which promotes better coral growth and  helps prevent algae outbreaks. This medias porous high surface area is not only ideal for binding phosphate but also silicate, arsenic and other water-staining compounds. 

Directions: Rinse media briefly using RO/DI water until clear before use. Be careful not to stir or crush the media due to its fragile nature. Place media in a tightly packed media bag or preferably use an up-flow media filter/reactor. Slow flow is desired and be sure not to tumble the media. The suggested amount is 1.5-2 cups of media per 100 gallons.

The Luxury Cabinet (available in jet black & bone white)
The stand/cabinet is made with MDF( Medium Density Fiberboard-an E1 grade environmentally friendly material) and laminated surfaces for excellent water resistance. The stand is optimally designed for pleasurable viewing and easy access while maintaining your aquarium. These stands are very easy to assemble.

The Water FLOW System
Reef Octopus black tube overflow box is designed to make it easy to set up an aquariums’ water flow system to and from the aquarium. The translucent black and brown acrylic tube hides all the necessary pluming. Because we utilize a unique overflow and return design in our aquariums, the Black Tube Water Flow system is specifically designed to best support and work with the Reef Octopus Luxury aquariums setup. This system uses a unique bulkhead with two openings for the drain and return plumbing through one bulkhead. It also contains 2 useful 1/4″ JG ( John Guest) pipe ports for adding the effluent of a calcium reactor, kalk feed or top off water.

The Sump
As the main source of filtration, the reef octopus sump has a very simple design that is very easy to use and understand. The Reef Octopus is made specifically for the Luxury cabinet and Aquarium. The Reef Octopus sump is made of acrylic for durability and constructed with the same attention to detail as the display.

The variable height baffle allows for a versatile, compact yet efficient way to properly adjust the water level within you sump. Each Sump includes a positional hang on filter sock holder and adjustable probe mount. The main area contains the sock for mechanical filtration and enough space to adequately house the protein skimmer, heater and other devices which are baffled off from the return section.

CoralVue is now the exclusive North America dealer of Neuco Germany, makers of the Aqua Connect metal halide lamps.  We are excited to soon have their new Aquastar 14500K metal halide lamps in stock.  These Aquastar lamps are substantially improved versions of their popular Aqua Connect metal halide lamps producing even better coloration and intensity.

The lighting engineers over at Neuco Germany developed the Aquastar lamp to simulate a more near-nature light spectrum resulting in brilliant color reproduction, enhance coral growth and long-term color stability.  The Aquastar 14500K contains very high percentage of a refined blue spectrum to bring out the fluorescent pigments in corals and to better simulate the natural light conditions over a coral reef. This new soon to be popular German lamp provides substantial improvements over other bulbs found in the 12-14k class.  Will be available in 250w SE and DE Bases as well as a 400w SE (mogul) base.

The Aquastar lamps were designed to fire on any electronic ballast. They will work on magnetic ballasts as well but color temperatures will vary and we recommend to use an electronic ballast to achieve optimal color temperature and life of the lamp.

We are excited to now have the new Deep Blue Star 20K metal halide lamps in stock.  These 20,000k Deep Blue Star lamps are perhaps the finest 20k metal halide lamps on the market even rivaling the coloration of the popular 20k Radium lamp.

Description:

The Reef Octopus® skimmers are powered by the Hailea OTP pumps. They are built with high quality acrylic. The skimmer has a gate valve output which allows for more adjustment of the skimmer compared to ball valves. The collection cup has a quick release neck for easy removal for cleaning. It requires 1/2 inch of clearance to remove the cup. The Octopus skimmers uses metric plumbing parts. The pump has an improved venturi design and pinwheel impeller. The DNWB skimmer requires a feed pump to feed water to the skimmer. The recommended maximum flow rating for this skimmer is 250gph. These numbers are based on zero back pressure on the output plumbing. If you add 90 degree bends on the plumbing back to a sump you may need to back off the amount of water being feed through the skimmer. We recommend that you use a ball valve inline from your feed pump to the skimmer allowing you to control the water flow. Below are the test results from the old impeller to the new improved impeller.

How To Test for Stray Voltage

1. Obtain a voltage meter. They can generally be found for less than $20 at most automotive parts or hardware stores.
2. Turn the selector to the lowest “AC Voltage” setting range from 0-200.
3. Insert the tip of the black lead to a ground source and drop the red lead into the aquarium.
4. Watch the meter for any reading. Any reading may indicate there is voltage leaking in your system.

How To Identify the Voltage Leak Source

Disconnect each electrical appliance (heaters, pumps, lights, chiller) associated with your tank one at a time and retest for voltage after each unit is disconnected. To be certain the suspected product is leaking current, remove the item and place in a bucket of water outside of the confines of your aquarium, plug in and retest.

How To Solve the Voltage Leak

1. Replace (recommended) or repair the faulty unit. Always test the tank once again to make sure that you have eliminated the problem.
2. Install a simple grounding probe in the tank to avoid damage to the tank inhabitants. This may temporarily take care of the symptoms of stray voltage, but it does not cure the cause of the problem.

Almost a year ago we introduce the reef aquarium hobby to the Metal Halide lamps manufactured by Nueco Germany. We were excited to work with this company in providing the US reef keeper with a fresh, new, quality made metal halide lamp. This has been a long process but we have finally have two lamps that deserve attention. We have been thoroughly testing several 20k and 14.5k in all wattages over actual tanks. We are thrilled with the results. The par stands up with the competition and color is worthy of the lighting up the greatest of reefs.

BH‐90 skimmer is totally a new hang on skimmer, not like your common hang on design, it have a cylindrically main body and use the siphon to feed water in to the skimmer which reduces the load on the pump while increasing the air generated.

This skimmer skims the top of the water surface avoiding the ugly oil buildup on the water surface. A cylindrical reaction chamber, the bubble chamber and conical body to neck transition，all help disperse the air gently and reducing turbulence as the collected organics make it into the collection cup. It is also very easy to be set up. Two adjustable PVC screws makes it could be stably fixed on your aquarium tanks.

Designed with the hobbyist in mind, these all-in-one reactors are simple to setup up, saves valuable space, conserves costly energy and allows for full control of the flow you provide to the media. Powered by our energy efficient water blaster pump to provide the most energy efficient and dependable feed flow for the bio-pellet media. Water is directly injected into the media chamber enhancing  the pumps performance and provides even distribution of  flow through the media. The water inlet /bottom chamber’s is a specially engineered structure that prevents the media from exiting the chamber and entering the pump when the power is off. A rigid sieve plate fixed on the top cover to prevent the leakage of pellets through the output of the unit.
